Legion of Mary - This association of Catholic laity was founded in Dublin, Ireland for the purpose of sanctifying its members, intensifying Catholic life, reclaiming fallen away Catholic and seeking converts. It is the largest apostolic organization of lay people in the Catholic Church, with well over 3 million active members in almost every country in the world. It has been active in the United States since 1931, has been approved by the last 6 Popes, and was endorsed by the second Vatican Council. The main purpose of the Legion of Mary is to give glory to God through the sanctification of its members. Members become instruments of the Holy Spirit through a balanced program of prayer and service. Works include door to door evangelization, parishioner visitation, prison ministry, visitation of the sick or aged, crowd contact, religious education, visiting the newly baptized, and meeting the other spiritual needs of the parish community. Legionaries are under the guidance of a Spiritual Director named by the Pastor. The Legion is, in essence, an extension of the heart and hands of the Pastor. The Legion of Mary at St. Joseph & St. Patrick Church specialized in going door to door evangelizing. From 9/13/13 to 9/20/14, 1558 visits were made, of these visits 729 were contacted. Recognizing our Blessed Mother as a model and example for the Church, the legion strives to accomplish its works under her sponsorship. Now a world-organization, it constitutes one answer to Pope Pius XI's appeal for Catholic action. The unit of the legion of Mary is called the Praesidium. All are welcome to attend!
Meetings are held on Thursdays @ 6:15 pm in the rectory at St. Joseph & St. Patrick Church. Contact: Spiritual Director, Father O'Neill @ (315) 724-1072 or Richard @ (315) 794-7648

Love of God Charismatic Prayer Group
In the spirit of the Catholic Charismatic Renewal, the Love of God Prayer Group seeks to experience the power and the charismatic gifts of the Holy Spirit, granted to the disciples at Pentecost, yet available even now. We pray for these gifts and employ them to bring ourselves, and those with whom we come into contact, into a deeply personal relationship with Our Lord so as to discern God's individual plan for us and to align our wills to His. Meetings generally consist of song, praise, praying in tongues, prophetic words, directed Scriptural readings, and laying on of hands. We praise Jesus, we thank Him, and we worship Him, as He moves within us. Come to hear God knocking and let Him in. All are welcome.
